E. William St. Clair, MD, serves as the Deputy Director of Clinical Affairs for the Immune Tolerance Network. He is currently Professor of Medicine and Immunology at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. St. Clair has extensive experience in the design, implementation, and coordination of both small and large, multi-center trials, having been the principal investigator for numerous trials of novel therapies for rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and systemic vasculitis. Dr. St. Clair also has relevant experience in translational research, which is the conceptual framework that forms the basis for all trials in the Immune Tolerance Network. He is the principal investigator for the Duke Autoimmunity Center of Excellence, providing leadership for a portfolio of basic and clinical studies focused on the role of B cells in autoimmunity. Furthermore, Dr. St. Clair has served on several Data and Safety Monitoring Boards. In addition to serving as an ITN Deputy Director, Dr. St. Clair is Chair of the ITN Clinical Advisory Group, which is responsible for ensuring the development of clinical high quality, ethically sound clinical protocols.
