Organizational Structure
The Immune Tolerance Network is headed by over 70 world-leaders
in the clinical and basic science of immune tolerance,
from academic research institutes around the world.
The scientific leadership of the ITN is responsible
for setting overall ITN policy, review of scientific
proposals and scientific priority setting.
The Network Steering Committee, or
NSC, is the main decision-making body of the ITN, with
input from both the Industry and International Advisory
Committees. A number of other subcommittees address
certain administrative tasks, while scientific panels,
or “subgroups” assist with the review of
proposals and priorities within specific scientific
areas.
ITN staff assist the scientific personnel
with a number of responsibilities, most notably in the
development, implementation and analysis of clinical
trials and tolerance assay studies. The ITN Clinical
Trials Group acts as a fully functioning clinical research
organization (CRO) to carry out ITN trials. Throughout
the ITN, numerous links are in place to government organizations
like the NIH and FDA.
