ABOUT THE REGISTRY

The “ITN Registry of Tolerant Kidney Transplant Recipients”aims to identify kidney transplant patients who are functionally tolerant – those who have maintained a functioning allograft, despite the cessation of all immunosuppression.

Once enough patients have been located, patient samples will be obtained, to which a wide range of cellular, molecular and immunological assays will be applied, with the hope of identifying new biomarkers of transplant tolerance. It is our hope that the study will provide the basis to predict whether individual may benefit from immunosuppressive withdrawal and, with the participation of individuals like yourself, form an important new resource for the transplant community.

Because such patients are very rare and, in many cases, may have discontinued their immunosuppressive therapy on their own, we are asking for the assistance of the transplant community to help us identify patients who may meet the eligibility criteria. We sincerely hope that you will be able to help us in this unique endeavor.

If you are aware of any patients that appear functionally tolerant following kidney transplantation, we ask that you provide them with a copy of the Registry's Patient Information Sheet and assist them in contacting us for more information. Alternatively, if the patient wishes, we can have a registry investigator contact them at their convenience.
