The Biomarker and Discovery Research Group welcomes Kristina Harris, PhD to the group. Kristina received her PhD in Molecular Medicine from the University of Maryland for her research investigating the role of the IL-23
response to wheat gliadin, the primary etiologic agent in celiac disease. Upon completing her degree, she became a post-doctoral research fellow and then a research associate in the Department of Pathology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. In 2011, her research efforts in human immunology were rewarded by a promotion to an Assistant Professor in the same department. Throughout her career, Dr. Harris has published peer reviewed articles in the field of immunology with a focus on Th17 biology, dendritic cells, and inflammatory disease. Kristina will be serving as the lead biologist for multiple projects in the autoimmune and transplant portfolios. In this role, she will work with BDR to gain a better understanding of clinical disease as well as direct mechanistic investigations of clinical tolerance.
Kristina will be based out of the Bethesda office and can be reached directly at (240) 235-6154 or kharris@immunetolerance.org. Please join me in welcoming Kristina to the organization.
