It is my pleasure to welcome Jenice to the BDR, ITN as a Research Scientist. Jenice is a much awaited addition to our Flow Core group and will support flow analyses for all studies as well as contribute towards development of mechanistic assays.
Jenice D’Costa has a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology from the Cancer Research Institute, India, studying genetic mutations and oncogenic virus association with head and neck cancers. She completed her post-doctoral training at Johns Hopkins University working on the transcription factor AML1’s role in directing hematopoiesis and leukemogenesis. It was while at Johns Hopkins that Jenice developed her interest in stem cells, an area of research that she continued to pursue at her next position at VIRxSYS Corp. At VIRxSYS, she was the lead investigator on the Stem Cell program for deriving induced pluripotent stem cells using viral delivery of RNA-based pluripotency factors. This program was funded through a Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund grant awarded to Jenice, which enabled the company to expand their product pipeline. Jenice also headed the Assay Development Group for developing and implementing assays for Investigational New Drug submissions to the FDA, and has expertise in the development of ELISA and cell-based assays for detection of chimeric proteins and anti-drug antibodies in non-human primate animal models.
